Fire breaks out inside Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport Kolkata

On Wednesday evening, a fire breaks within the premises of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport in Kolkata. The incident took place at 9:10 pm specifically in the D Portal area of the departure lounge, which serves as the boarding pass issuance zone for passengers. The fire spread to a section of the security checkpoint, prompting an immediate deployment of three fire tenders to combat the flames and bring the situation under control.

According to the airport authorities, a fire incident occurred at precisely 9:12 pm within the premises of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport in Kolkata. The dedicated efforts of the firefighting team led to the complete extinguishing of the flames by 9:40 pm. Ensuring the safety of all passengers, a successful evacuation was carried out, while the check-in process had to be temporarily suspended due to the presence of smoke in the check-in area. The authorities acted promptly to mitigate the situation and ensure the well-being of those present at the airport.

Following the fire incident near a check-in counter at Kolkata’s Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport, immediate measures were taken to ensure the safety of passengers and airline crew. All individuals were promptly evacuated, and fortunately, no injuries have been reported thus far.

Jyotiraditya M. Scindia, the Union Minister for Civil Aviation & Steel, provided an update via Twitter, stating that the situation was under control. He confirmed that all passengers and staff members in the affected area were successfully evacuated. Furthermore, he mentioned that the check-in process resumed at 22:25 hrs, indicating the restoration of normal operations.

The cause of the fire will be determined through a thorough investigation, as authorities work to ascertain the factors that led to the incident.
